Inside the Pits: Latest Formula 1 News and Updates

The finish line is just the beginning of the next race.

Before we set our gears for the Grand Prix at Melbourne, Australia, here are some updates on the past two trilling Formula1 races at The Bahrain Grand Prix and The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2023.

Who was the winner of The Bahrain Grand Prix?

On March 5th, 2023, the first Grand Prix took place at Bahrain, and Max Verstappen emerged as the winner. Driving for RED BULL RACING HONDA RBPT, Verstappen completed 57 laps and finished with a time of 1 hour, 33 minutes, and 56.736 seconds.

Max Verstappen gave the 2023 season off to the best possible start as he won the Bahrain Grand Prix. He was followed home teammate Sergio Perez in an impressive Red Bull one-two finish.

Verstappen crossed the finish line more than 10 seconds ahead of Perez, holding P1 from the green flag to the checkered flag in Sakhir to start off his title defence - and pursuit of a third drivers' crown - with maximum points.

Both the Redbull warriors were followed by Fernando Alonso, who was at the third place representing the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team.

Who took the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix trophy home?

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix took place on March 19th, 2023, and Sergio Perez, also driving for RED BULL RACING HONDA RBPT, won the race. He completed 50 laps and finished with a time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 14.894 seconds.

This was Sergio Perez's notable F1 career's most impressive victory—and Grand Prix weekend.

Perez stepped up and made sure Red Bull capitalized on their weekend dominance with pole when teammate Max Verstappen experienced a driveshaft issue in qualifying. Red Bull had dominated up until that point.

At the front of the field, the Mexican cruised. He was unfazed when a Safety Car erased his lead, and he impressively withstood Verstappen's late pressure to claim his first victory of the year.

The Hot Topic of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix:

This was Sergio Perez's notable F1 career's most impressive victory—and Grand Prix weekend.

Fernando Alonso was given a 10-second penalty for not serving his initial five-second penalty properly, dropping him to fourth after the race.

Aston Martin's rear jack made contact with Alonso's car as he served a five-second time penalty for starting the race in the "wrong position" in the pit lane.

Alonso would have lost his 100th career podium, but Aston Martin appealed the ruling and the penalty was reversed.

COMING TO THE NEXT BIG THING - The Australian Grand Prix

Since 1996 the Australian Grand Prix has been held in Melbourne with the event previously been held in Adelaide. Melbourne became a staple on the Formula1 calendar and Albert Park gained recognizable status.

How does the Melbourne Grand Prix circuit operate?

As a temporary venue, Albert Park can be quite uneven, and the circuit is frequently slick at the beginning of the weekend before becoming rubberized as the sessions go on. It's a circuit that also demands a well-organized chassis because there are several places on the track where drivers need a responsive front end to be able to throw the car into a corner.

The main one is the sharp Turn 11–12 chicane. Lewis Hamilton's 2018 pole lap at Melbourne was recorded at an average speed of 235 km/h, making it one of the faster tracks on the schedule.

Where can you watch the best of Formula1 at Melbourne?

If you want to watch the cars jostle for position through the first chicane, choose either the Waite stand outside of Turn 12 or the Brabham Grandstand outside of Turn 2. If you prefer a picnic-style F1 experience, there are some nice general admission areas on the opposite side of the lake; choose either around Turns 9–10 or 11–12.

One second does not seem like much, and in everyday life, you hardly notice a second pass. However, in FROMULA1, the difference between half a second and a second is an eternity. If you don't trust us, click here.…
